"Perhaps Akrūra has returned—he who fulfilled Kaṁsa's desire by taking lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa to Mathurā.
KB 10.46.48
Some of them inquired whether Akrūra, who had taken away Kṛṣṇa, had returned. They were not very much pleased with Akrūra because, being engaged in the service of Kaṁsa, he had taken lotus-eyed Kṛṣṇa away to the city of Mathurā.
Purport
The
gopīs
angrily spoke this statement.
Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
The gopis spoke with anger, "Perhaps Akrura, who has fulfilled the purposes of Kamsa, by taking Krsna to Mathura, has come."
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Some women who had a predominance of longing (utkaṇṭha) speak two verses. Kaṁsa may be called Madhu since a demon ruled a city called Madhu-purī and there was a demon named Madhu. Thus Madhu-purīm means the city of Kaṁsa. It was improper for Akrūra to take him to such a city. He took Kṛṣṇa, who has lotus eyes, whose special beauty removes all suffering. They reveal their extreme pain in their hearts on remembering his special qualities. It was improper for Akrūra to take him from Vraja, but worse to take him to Madhu-purī.
Purport (Sanatana Goswami)
Mathurā was the city of the demon Madhu. It was suitable that Kṛṣṇa was taken to such a city. Kṛṣṇa is the form of pure bliss and the lord of our hearts. He can destroy all pain by his glance alone (kamala-locanaḥ). Therefore it is improper to take such a person from Vraja to that demon’s city.
