Translation
[The gopīs said:] We know that you are the personal servant of Kṛṣṇa, the chief of the Yadus, and that you have come here on the order of your good master, who desires to give pleasure to His parents.

“We know that you are a most confidential associate of Kṛṣṇa and that He has therefore sent you to Vṛndāvana to give solace to His father and mother.
Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
"We know who you are, so we do not have to ask. You are follower of the lord of the Yadus. Though Krsna was of cowherd origins, now he is living as king of the Yadus. With such a big post, how is it possible that he will personally come here again? Therefore it seems, O Uddhava, that he has sent you. And he sent you, not for us, but to pacify his mother and father. But what use has he for a father and mother who are cowherd people? He is sending you here just out of fear of general criticism that he is busy ruling in Mathura while Nanda and Yasoda are crying themselves to death. O charming fellow! The most intelligent one has sent you to pacify Nanda and Yasoda. Having come, here, go to Nanda and Yasoda. Receiving you, they will blissfully forget about Krsna. His sharp intelligence has come in handy!"
In this way, in their words there are many such implications of criticism, hidden in words of false praise.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Though certain that Uddhava had a message, they hid their relationship with Kṛṣṇa out of sorrow. We know you are a follower of the protector of the Yadus, because of your clothing and you have approached the people of Vraja. What is the need of asking you about this? You have been sent by your master. You did not come on your own, but were sent by him. You really did not want to come, since you would have to leave him, but you came for appearance’s sake. You have come simply because you must follow the orders of your master. He is master of the Yadus and does not care for his own people since they are no longer qualified for him. You have been sent by your master. By this they attempt to show indifference to him. We know something of the purpose of your visit. You came to please Kṛṣṇa’s parents, not out of love.
Purport (Sanatana Goswami)
We know that you have come to Nanda (āgatam), riding the king’s chariot (sam). We do not need to ask about this. Since he is king of the Yadus it is suitable that he ignores us. They explain. Giving up Kṛṣṇa, you have come here on the order of your master. They servant must carry out his order. “Since he sent me, understand that he is most concerned about you.” He desires to comfort his parents.
