त्वं नो गुरु: पितृव्यश्च श्लाघ्यो बन्धुश्च नित्यदा ।
वयं तु रक्ष्या: पोष्याश्च अनुकम्प्या: प्रजा हि व: ॥ २९ ॥

ślāghyo bandhuś ca nityadā
vayaṁ tu rakṣyāḥ poṣyāś ca
anukampyāḥ prajā hi vaḥ

Translation
The Supreme Lord said: You are Our spiritual master, paternal uncle and praiseworthy friend, and We are like your sons, always dependent on your protection, sustenance and compassion.

“My dear Akrūra, in spite of your submissiveness, I consider you My superior, on the level with My father and teacher and most well-wishing friend. You are therefore to be worshiped by Me, and since you are My uncle I am always to be protected by you. I desire you to maintain Me, for I am one of your own children.

You are our guru. Kṛṣṇa uses the plural to indicate himself and Balarāma in order to show his status as an ordinary person. Akrūra was a guru because he gave instructions. He was a friend because he did beneficial acts for them. He was praiseworthy because of being the greatest teacher, greatest uncle, and greatest friend. We were always protected by you from dangers, nourished by you with food, and were always the objects of your compassion by giving instructions because (hi) we were your sons.
