Dark-eyed Vaidarbhī was aware of this plan, and it deeply upset her. Analyzing the situation, she quickly sent a trustworthy brāhmaṇa to Kṛṣṇa.

When the black-eyed, beautiful Rukmiṇī heard of the settlement, she immediately became very morose. However, being a king’s daughter, she understood political diplomacy and decided that there was no use in simply being morose. Some steps should be taken immediately. After some deliberation, she decided to send a message to Kṛṣṇa, and so that she might not be deceived, she selected a qualified brāhmaṇa as her messenger. Such a qualified brāhmaṇa is always truthful and is a devotee of Viṣṇu. Without delay, she sent the brāhmaṇa to Dvārakā.

Her eyes were dark (asita) because of great suffering. Or her glance was directed to Kṛṣṇa (asita). Giving up shyness, she then resolved (vicintya) that she must take the help of Kṛṣṇa himself.
Or she thought as follows. My brother and others have decided to get me married quickly to an unsuitable person. Though Kṛṣṇa is suitable, he has not thought about this till now, though he knows everything, because he has perhaps some great attachment elsewhere for I have heard that he is most attached to the gopīs in Gokula. It is insignificant for my mother and others if I tell him that I will die without his accepting me. But it is significant for him that he hears that I will die without his acceptance, since, being the pinnacle of good qualities, he accepts suffering because he cannot tolerate the suffering of anyone who surrenders to him, as in the case of Kubjā. Thinking in this way, she gave up shyness and sent a messenger with a message. If he does not accept it, then I will give up my life.

Understanding this she was deeply upset. “Dark-eyed” means she was expert at love affairs. Considering the situation or deciding she should write a letter, she sent a trustworthy, youngest son of a brāhmaṇa priest.
