Translation
[Princess Rukmiṇī prayed:] O mother Ambikā, wife of Lord Siva, I repeatedly offer my obeisances unto you, together with your children. May Lord Kṛṣṇa become my husband. Please grant this!

Rukmiṇī offered her prayers to the deity by saying, “My dear Goddess Durgā, I offer my respectful obeisances unto you as well as to your children.” Goddess Durgā has four famous children: two daughters—the goddess of fortune, Lakṣmī, and the goddess of learning, Sarasvatī—and two sons, Lord Gaṇeśa and Lord Kārttikeya. They are all considered demigods and goddesses. Since Goddess Durgā is always worshiped with her famous children, Rukmiṇī specifically offered her respectful obeisances to the deity in that way; however, her prayers were special. Ordinary people pray to Goddess Durgā for material wealth, fame, profit, strength and so on; Rukmiṇī, however, desired to have Kṛṣṇa for her husband and therefore prayed that the deity be pleased with her and bless her with that benediction. Since she desired only Kṛṣṇa, her worship of the demigods is not condemned.

They had her chant the mantra mentioned in this verse. "May Ganesa remove all the obstacles I have now before me. May Krsna be my husband. May you approve it."
"So be it. May he be your husband," answered Durga.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
This verse is the mantra for offering respects to Durgā. O mother of the universe (ambike)! She is -called Śivā since she is non-different from Śiva, having similar qualities and name. Therefore she offers respects to Durgā along with Śiva. After indicating Durgā’s qualification of being like Śiva, she makes her request. May the Lord who is endowed with all unparalleled sweetness and powers (bhagavān) and who attracts the minds of everyone (kṛṣṇaḥ), what to speak of those who are dedicated to him, be my husband. You two should permit this since you can fulfill desires. Or, may Kṛṣṇa permit it. In great longing, she forgets about Durgā.
