Translation
“Release the girl before You are struck dead by my arrows and made to lie down!” In response to this, Lord Kṛṣṇa smiled, and with six arrows He struck Rukmī and broke his bow.

“You can keep my sister in Your possession only until I beat You to the ground for good with my arrows.”
Lord Kṛṣṇa, after hearing all these crazy words from Rukmī, immediately shot an arrow and severed the string of Rukmī’s bow, making him unable to use another arrow.
Purport
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī points out that in fact Lord Kṛṣṇa was meant to lie down together with Rukmiṇī on a beautiful bed of flowers, but out of shyness Rukmī did not directly mention this point.

"Before you lie on the battlefield, having been killed (me hatah) by my arrow, release the girl." The other meaning is:"Because you are not killed by my arrow ( me ahatah), do not release the girl."
"Why do I need the girl?"
"So you can lie down (sayithah) " He does not complete the sentence "with her on a bed of flowers." out of shyness.

As long as, having received my arrows, you do not lie down peacefully (showing the uselessness of his arrows), as long as Rukmiṇī is not peaceful, having her desires for you fulfilled, give up satisfying her and fight. (Before satisfying Rukmiṇī after receiving my arrows, fight with me.) Kṛṣṇa smiled, since taking either meaning, his words were unfit. Kṛṣṇa released six arrows to strike his head, two hands, two feet, and waist.

Before you are injured by my arrows and are made to lie down, free the girl. The other meaning is strike me, having come to lie down with being injured by my arrows. Or until, being injured by your arrows, I remove my pride, do not remain complacent. Do not free the girl. It is not proper to give up fighting. The word me modifies madam and manda in the previous verse. He criticizes himself because of his pride. Kṛṣṇa smiled. In either case he should not speak in this way. Kṛṣṇa released six arrows to strike his head, two hands, two feet, and waist.
