Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

His appeal thus rejected by Akrūra also, Śatadhanvā placed the precious jewel in Akrūra's care and fled on a horse that could travel one hundred yojanas [eight hundred miles]. KB 10.57.18 When Akrūra also refused to give him shelter, Śatadhanvā decided to deliver the Syamantaka jewel into the hands of Akrūra. Then, riding on a horse which could run at great speed and up to four hundred miles at a stretch, he fled the city.

Purport

The term nyasya, “leaving in the care of,” implies Śatadhanvā now believed the jewel was his; thus he was leaving it in the care of a friend. In blunt terms, this is a thief’s mentality.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Śatadhanvā thought that the gem (mahā-maṇim) should be possessed by a great person. He therefore deposited it to Akrūra since he thought he was great. Viṣṇu Purāṇa says he mounted a mare. Here it is said he mounted a horse. This is a general description (including mare).

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

Śatadhanvā, inclined to sin or inspired by Akrūra (saḥ), thought that the gem (mahā-maṇim) should be possessed by a great person. He therefore deposited it with Akrūra since he thought he was a great devotee. Akrūra accepted it by the order of the Lord according to Śrīdhara Svāmī. There should be a great result if the jewel is kept with devotion by a great devotee. Otherwise there will be disaster. The Lord thought of the welfare of the people.
