Translation

Not finding the jewel, Lord Kṛṣṇa went to His elder brother and said, “We have killed Śatadhanvā uselessly. The jewel isn’t here.”

Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Not finding the jewel, Lord Kṛṣṇa went to His elder brother and said, "We have killed Śatadhanvā uselessly. The jewel isn't here." KB 10.57.22 … but He could not find it. He then returned to Balarāma and said, “We have killed this person uselessly, for the jewel is not to be found on his body.”

Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Though Krsna, being omniscient, knew that Akrura had the jewel, he made a show of searching for it on Satadhanva’s body to Balarama who was following far behind. By doing this he was able to separate himself from Balarama, so that Balarama could give mercy to his pure devotee king Bahulasva in Mitihila.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Coming near Balarāṁa, he said “He has been uselessly killed.” The spies have given us the wrong information.

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

It is improper to fool an elder brother. Speaking to him directly, Balarāma is only called elder brother with the expression agrajāntikam. The jewel is not on Śatyadhanvā (tasmin).
