It was to dispel the arrogance of these kings that I carried you away, My good woman, for they were blinded by the intoxication of power. My purpose was to curb the strength of the wicked. KB 10.60.19 “All these princes were very much puffed up with their worldly possessions and did not care a fig for anyone who came before them. In order to teach them some lessons, I agreed to kidnap you according to your desire; otherwise I actually have no love for you, although you loved Me even before the marriage.

Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

"I took you just to destroy the pride (smayanuttaye) of those conceited kings who were intoxicated with valor."

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

It is not my fault. They hate me because of their evil natures. They have lost all discrimination because intoxication with their power or strength (vīrya). Thus they have become proud (dṛptānām). To curb their pride (smaya-nuttaye) I took you away. The real purpose was to curb the strength of the wicked. My goal was to take you away, not to marry you.
