दूतस्त्वयात्मलभने सुविविक्तमन्त्र: प्रस्थापितो मयि चिरायति शून्यमेतत् । मत्वा जिहास इदमङ्गमनन्ययोग्यं तिष्ठेत तत्त्वयि वयं प्रतिनन्दयाम: ॥ ५७ ॥

dūtas tvayātma-labhane su-vivikta-mantraḥ prasthāpito mayi cirāyati śūnyam etat matvā jihāsa idaṁ aṅgam ananya-yogyaṁ tiṣṭheta tat tvayi vayaṁ pratinandayāmaḥ

Synonyms

dūtaḥ — the messenger ; tvayā — by you ; ātma — Myself ; labhane — for obtaining ; su — vivikta — very confidential ; mantraḥ — whose advice ; prasthāpitaḥ — sent ; mayi — when I ; cirāyati — delayed ; śūnyam — empty ; etat — this (world) ; matvā — thinking ; jihāse — you wanted to give up ; idam — this ; aṅgam — body ; ananya — for no one else ; yogyam — suited ; tiṣṭheta — may stand ; tat — that ; tvayi — in you ; vayam — We ; pratinanda — yāmaḥ — respond by rejoicing .

Translation

When you sent the messenger with your most confidential plan and yet I delayed going to you, you began to see the whole world as void and wanted to quit your body, which could never have been given to anyone but Me. May this greatness of yours remain with you always; I can do nothing to reciprocate except joyfully thank you for your devotion.

When you sent the messenger with your most confidential plan and yet I delayed going to you, you began to see the whole world as void and wanted to quit your body, which could never have been given to anyone but Me. May this greatness of yours remain with you always; I can do nothing to reciprocate except joyfully thank you for your devotion. KB 10.60.57 “You sent your messenger inviting Me to kidnap you, and when you found that there was a little delay in My arriving on the spot, you saw the whole world as vacant. At that time you concluded that your beautiful body was not fit to be touched by anyone else; therefore, thinking that I was not coming, you decided to commit suicide and immediately end that body. My dear Rukmiṇī, such great and exalted love for Me will always remain within My soul. As far as I am concerned, it is not within My power to repay you for your unalloyed devotion to Me.”

Purport

Śrīmatī Rukmiṇī-devī had no intention whatsoever of accepting any other husband but Lord Kṛṣṇa, as she stated in her message to the Lord ( Bhāg. 10.52.43 ): yarhy ambujākṣa na labheya bhavat-prasādaṁ / jahyām asūn vrata-kṛśān śata-janmabhiḥ syāt. “If I cannot obtain Your mercy, I shall simply give up my vital force, which will have become weak from the severe penances I will perform. Then, after hundreds of lifetimes of endeavor, I may obtain Your mercy.” The Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam firmly establishes the unique glories of Queen Rukmiṇī-devī.

"When the messenger was sent by you for obtaining me, and I was delayed , you considered the whole universe vacant and thought of giving up your life since your body should not be given to anyone else. That action remains with you, and I cannot repay you in any way. I can simply rejoice."

Thinking of her previous attraction he speaks. You sent a messenger, with a very secret plan, in order to attain me. When I was delayed, since I was absorbed in hearing messages from guests, you considered the world empty though your father, mother and friends were present. You had no shelter. You wanted to give up your most attractive body. You thought, “I am extremely unfortunate, for the creator is not favorably disposed toward me.” (SB 10.53.25) You gave up all hope. Even before this by your nature, you said, “If I cannot obtain your mercy, I shall simply give up my vital force. (SB 10.52.43) You wanted to give up your life because you felt that you should not be given to anyone else (ananya-yogyam). We can simply be pleased by this.

The messenger had a secret or very colorful message (suvivikta-mantraḥ). Its secret nature indicates special prema. You considered the world (etat), containing father, mother and friends, to be empty and wanted to give up your body because it should not be given to another person. I try to be happy with a reflection of the great bliss created by you. I offer respects the skillful couple whose exchange of words of prema are understood only by the couple themselves and which cannot be understood by others without bhakti. Many other pastimes are indicated by this as well.
