तामनाद‍ृत्य वैदर्भो दुष्टराजन्यचोदित: । सङ्कर्षणं परिहसन् बभाषे कालचोदित: ॥ ३४ ॥

Verse text

tām anādṛtya vaidarbho duṣṭa-rājanya-coditaḥ saṅkarṣaṇaṁ parihasan babhāṣe kāla-coditaḥ

Synonyms

tām that (voice) ; anādṛtya disregarding ; vaidarbhaḥ Rukmī, Prince of Vidarbha ; duṣṭa wicked ; rājanya by the kings ; coditaḥ urged on ; saṅkarṣaṇam to Lord Balarāma ; parihasan ridiculing ; babhāṣe he spoke ; kāla by the force of time ; coditaḥ impelled .

Translation

Urged on by the wicked kings, Rukmī ignored the divine voice. In fact destiny itself was urging Rukmī on, and thus he ridiculed Lord Balarāma as follows.

Urged on by the wicked kings, Rukmī ignored the divine voice. In fact destiny itself was urging Rukmī on, and thus he ridiculed Lord Balarāma as follows. KB 10.61.34 In spite of this divine voice, Rukmī insisted that Balarāma had lost, and by his persistence it appeared that he had death upon his head. Falsely puffed up by the ill advice of his friend, he did not give much importance to the oracle, and he began to criticize Balarāmajī. He said,

He ridiculed Balarāma who was capable of destroying everything immediately (saṅkarṣaṇam). Or he mocked the second member of Svayam Bhagavān’s catur-vyūha.
