परार्ध्यवास:स्रग्गन्धधूपदीपासनादिभि: । पानभोजनभक्ष्यैश्च वाक्यै: शुश्रूषणार्चित: ॥ २३ ॥ गूढ: कन्यापुरे शश्वत्प्रवृद्धस्‍नेहया तया । नाहर्गणान् स बुबुधे ऊषयापहृतेन्द्रिय: ॥ २४ ॥

parārdhya-vāsaḥ-srag-gandha- dhūpa-dīpāsanādibhiḥ pāna-bhojana-bhakṣyaiś ca vākyaiḥ śuśrūṣaṇārcitaḥ gūḍhaḥ kanyā-pure śaśvat- pravṛddha-snehayā tayā nāhar-gaṇān sa bubudhe ūṣayāpahṛtendriyaḥ

parārdhya — priceless ; vāsaḥ — with garments ; srak — garlands ; gandha — fragrances ; dhūpa — incense ; dīpa — lamps ; āsana — sitting places ; ādibhiḥ — and so on ; pāna — with beverages ; bhojana — food that is chewed ; bhakṣyaiḥ — food that is not chewed ; ca — also ; vākyaiḥ — with words ; śuśrūṣaṇa — by faithful service ; arcitaḥ — worshiped ; gūḍhaḥ — kept hidden ; kanyā — pure — in the quarters for unmarried girls ; śaśvat — continuously ; pravṛddha — greatly increasing ; snehayā — whose affection ; tayā — by her ; na — not ; ahaḥ — gaṇān — the days ; saḥ — He ; bubudhe — noticed ; ūṣayā — by Ūṣā ; apahṛta — diverted ; indriyaḥ — His senses .

Translation

Ūṣā worshiped Aniruddha with faithful service, offering Him priceless garments, along with garlands, fragrances, incense, lamps, sitting places and so on. She also offered Him beverages, all types of food, and sweet words. As He thus remained hidden in the young ladies’ quarters, Aniruddha did not notice the passing of the days, for His senses were captivated by Ūṣā, whose affection for Him ever increased.

Ūṣā worshiped Aniruddha with faithful service, offering Him priceless garments, along with garlands, fragrances, incense, lamps, sitting places and so on. She also offered Him beverages, all types of food, and sweet words. As He thus remained hidden in the young ladies' quarters, Aniruddha did not notice the passing of the days, for His senses were captivated by Ūṣā, whose affection for Him ever increased. KB 10.62.23-24 Ūṣā and Aniruddha lived together in the palace, and day after day Ūṣā’s love for Aniruddha grew four times upon four. Ūṣā pleased Aniruddha with valuable garments, flowers, garlands, scents and incense. By his bedside sitting place were other paraphernalia for residential purposes—nice drinks such as milk and sherbet and nice eatables which could be chewed or swallowed. Above all, she pleased him with sweet words and very obliging service. Ūṣā worshiped Aniruddha as if he were the Supreme Personality of Godhead. By her excellent service, Ūṣā made Aniruddha forget all other things and was able to draw his attention and love to her without deviation. In such an atmosphere of love and service, Aniruddha practically forgot himself and could not recall how many days he had been away from his real home.

She offered foods which were chewed, drunk, sucked and licked (pāna-bhojana). The words actually mean peya and bhojya. It takes the meaning according to krtya-lyuṭo bahulam. (Pāṇini 3.3.113) She worshipped him devotedly with these items. She had anurāga which increase in newer ways (pra—vṛddha) again and again. Because of that he was not aware of the passage of time. He was able to leave Kṛṣṇa and stay there a long time because it was Kṛṣṇa’s will, for certain pastimes. His senses were captured by Ūṣā. This means he was bewildered by prema.

As she was pleased with him, he was pleased with her. That is described in two verses. Ādibhiḥ includes a bed. She worshipped him with drinks, chewable (bhojana) and unchewable (bhakṣyaiḥ) foods, with jokes (vākyaiḥ) and bhakti or services like washing his feet (śuśruṣaṇa). His senses were stolen by Uṣā, famous for her beauty (tayā), whose anurāga increased in ever fresh ways (pravṛddha) continually. He thus became unware of how many days had passed, what was today and whether it was day or night. Why? His senses and mind were captured by Ūṣā. This means he was bewildered by prema.
