ततो बाहुसहस्रेण नानायुधधरोऽसुर: । मुमोच परमक्रुद्धो बाणांश्चक्रायुधे नृप ॥ ३१ ॥

Verse text

tato bāhu-sahasreṇa nānāyudha-dharo ’suraḥ mumoca parama-kruddho bāṇāṁś cakrāyudhe nṛpa

Synonyms

tataḥ — thereupon ; bāhu — with his arms ; sahasreṇa — one thousand ; nānā — numerous ; āyudha — weapons ; dharaḥ — carrying ; asuraḥ — the demon ; mumoca — released ; parama — supremely ; kruddhaḥ — angry ; bāṇān — arrows ; cakra — āyudhe — at Him whose weapon is the disc ; nṛpa — O King (Parīkṣit) .

Translation

Carrying numerous weapons in his thousand hands, O King, the terribly infuriated demon shot many arrows at Lord Kṛṣṇa, the carrier of the disc weapon.

Carrying numerous weapons in his thousand hands, O King, the terribly infuriated demon shot many arrows at Lord Kṛṣṇa, the carrier of the disc weapon. KB 10.63.31 … with different kinds of weapons in his one thousand hands. Very much agitated, Bāṇāsura splashed his different weapons upon the body of Lord Kṛṣṇa like torrents of rain.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Though Bāṇa carried many weapons, though he was king (nṛpaḥ instead of nṛpa) of the demonic troops, being most furious, first he personally released arrows from far off. But Kṛṣṇa was the wielder of the cakra. Thus all his arrows were useless against Kṛṣṇa. Or because he was furious, out of loss of intelligence, he shot arrows at the holder of the cakra. If the version with nṛpa is accepted then Śukadeva laughs, saying, “O king Parīkṣit, he was so foolish to do this.”
