त इमे मन्दमतय: कलहाभिरता: खला: ।
तं मामवज्ञाय मुहुर्दुर्भाषान् मानिनोऽब्रुवन् ॥ ३३ ॥

“Ah, only gradually was I able to calm the furious Yadus and Lord Kṛṣṇa, who was also enraged. Desiring peace for these Kauravas, I came here. But they are so dull-headed, fond of quarrel and mischievous by nature that they have repeatedly disrespected Me. Out of conceit they dared to address Me with harsh words!

"Ah, only gradually was I able to calm the furious Yadus and Lord Kṛṣṇa, who was also enraged. Desiring peace for these Kauravas, I came here. But they are so dull-headed, fond of quarrel and mischievous by nature that they have repeatedly disrespected Me. Out of conceit they dared to address Me with harsh words!

“Just see how impudent are the members of the Kuru dynasty! I wanted to make a peaceful settlement despite the anger of all the other members of the Yadu dynasty, including Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself. They were preparing to attack the whole kingdom of the Kuru dynasty, but I pacified them and took the trouble to come here to settle the affair without any fighting. Yet these rascals behave like this! It is clear that they do not want a peaceful settlement, for they are factually warmongers. With great pride they have repeatedly insulted Me by calling the Yadu dynasty ill names.

Aho expresses lamentation. The Yadus were ready to come to fight or were very angry (su-samṛabdhān). Slowly pacifying them I came here, wanting to avoid a conflict. Those with whom I tried to make peace (te) are foolish since they insulted me and spoke bad words. Instead tam mām sometimes ye mām is seen.

Those with whom I tried to make peace (te) are foolish (ime manda-matayaḥ) since they are absorbed in quarrelling, since they are wicked (khalāḥ). Instead tam mām sometimes ye mām is seen. Their wickedness is shown. Being proud, they insulted me. Or those who insulted me are foolish and wicked.
