श्रीशुक उवाच अथान्यदपि कृष्णस्य श‍ृणु कर्माद्भ‍ुतं नृप । क्रीडानरशरीरस्य यथा सौभपतिर्हत: ॥ १ ॥

śrī-śuka uvāca athānyad api kṛṣṇasya śṛṇu karmādbhutaṁ nṛpa krīḍā-nara-śarīrasya yathā saubha-patir hataḥ

Synonyms

śrī śukaḥ uvāca — Śukadeva Gosvāmī said ; atha now ; anyat another ; api yet ; kṛṣṇasya of Lord Kṛṣṇa ; śṛṇu please hear ; karma deed ; adbhutam wonderful ; nṛpa O King ; krīḍā for playing ; nara humanlike ; śarīrasya whose body ; yathā how ; saubha patiḥ — the lord of Saubha (Śālva) ; hataḥ killed .

Translation

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Now please hear, O King, another wondrous deed performed by Lord Kṛṣṇa, who appeared in His humanlike body to enjoy transcendental pastimes. Hear how He killed the master of Saubha.

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Now please hear, O King, another wondrous deed performed by Lord Kṛṣṇa, who appeared in His humanlike body to enjoy transcendental pastimes. Hear how He killed the master of Saubha. KB 10.76.1 While Śukadeva Gosvāmī was narrating various activities of Lord Kṛṣṇa in playing the role of an ordinary human being, he also narrated the history of the battle between the dynasty of Yadu and a demon of the name Śālva, who had managed to possess a wonderful airship named Saubha.

In the seventy sixth chapter, Salva, obtaining a boon from Siva, enters battle. Dyuman strikes Pradyumna so that he must leave the battle field. Hear the exploits of Krsna, who took a human form and performed playful pastimes (krida nara sarirasya). It is comparable to the compound saka parthivah, vegetable king, a king who enjoys vegetables.

After this (atha), when Kṛṣṇa returned to Dvārakā, he killed Sālva. That is explained later. This act was astonishing because Kṛṣṇa had a human like body for pastimes. He distributed various sweet pastimes in this form. What was the action? His manner of killing Sālva was amazing.

After this (atha), when Kṛṣṇa returned to Dvārakā, he killed Sālva. That is explained now. This act was astonishing because Kṛṣṇa had a human like body for pastimes. He distributed various sweet pastimes in this form, because he attracted everyone’s heart (kṛṣṇasya). O king! You are suitable for protecting the people by hearing this. What was the action? Killing Sālva was amazing. Hear how he killed Sālva.
