Translation
The next day, Sudāmā set off for home while being honored by Lord Kṛṣṇa, the self-satisfied maintainer of the universe. The brāhmaṇa felt greatly delighted, my dear King, as he walked along the road.

The learned brāhmaṇa Sudāmā did not appear to have received anything substantial from Lord Kṛṣṇa while at His palace, yet he did not ask anything from the Lord. The next morning he started for his home, thinking always about his reception by Kṛṣṇa, and thus he merged in transcendental bliss. All the way home he simply remembered the dealings of Lord Kṛṣṇa, and he felt very happy to have seen the Lord.
Purport
We are here reminded that Lord Kṛṣṇa maintains the supply of desirable objects for the whole universe. Therefore it is to be understood that He was about to manifest for Sudāmā opulence greater than Indra’s. Being
sva-sukha,
perfectly complete in His own bliss, the Lord has an unlimited capacity for bestowing gifts.
According to Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, the word
abhivanditaḥ
indicates that Śrī Kṛṣṇa accompanied Sudāmā on the road for a short distance and finally parted with the
brāhmaṇa
after bowing down to him and speaking some respectful words.

Sudama departed, accompanied part way by Krsna, who is the creator of the universe (visva bhava), filled with his own bliss (sva sukhna). If he can create the universe by his mere wish, what endeavor is it for him to create a great wealthy house for Sudama? And what endeavor is it for him if he is filled with bliss, to give such material bliss to Sudama?

Then what happened? After he got up the next morning, he was honored by Kṛṣṇa, the protector of lords of the universe, who could therefore give all happiness to his devotees. This was proper since the Lord was endowed with affection for brāhmaṇas. Internally he thought, “I came here to ask for some wealth and did not do that!” Without even meeting Balarāma, he quickly departed for his house. Going to the edge of the city , spoke gentle words with Kṛṣṇa, while walking. He circled him, offered respects, folded his hands, gazed at Kṛṣṇa’s face, and then left in joy. Śukadeva calls out jokingly to Parīkṣit to indicate that Kṛṣṇa did not give Sudāmā anything when he departed.

The Lord was the maintainer of the universe (viśva-bhāvena) because he gives happiness to the devotees (sva-sukhena). Śrīdāmā was worshipped by Kṛṣṇa touching his feet. He did not give him wealth, only respect. Śukadeva calls out in great prema for the Lord’s treatment of Śrīdāmā, or out of great enthusiasm.
