श्रीशुक उवाच नन्दस्तत्र यदून् प्राप्तान् ज्ञात्वा कृष्णपुरोगमान् । तत्रागमद् वृतो गोपैरन:स्थार्थैर्दिद‍ृक्षया ॥ ३१ ॥

śrī-śuka uvāca nandas tatra yadūn prāptān jṣātvā kṛṣṇa-purogamān tatrāgamad vṛto gopair anaḥ-sthārthair didṛkṣayā

Translation

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: When Nanda Mahārāja learned that the Yadus had arrived, led by Kṛṣṇa, he immediately went to see them. The cowherds accompanied him, their various possessions loaded on their wagons.

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: When Nanda Mahārāja learned that the Yadus had arrived, led by Kṛṣṇa, he immediately went to see them. The cowherds accompanied him, their various possessions loaded on their wagons. KB 10.82.31 When Nanda Mahārāja and the other residents of Vṛndāvana had heard that Kṛṣṇa would be present in Kurukṣetra because of the solar eclipse and that all the members of the Yadu dynasty would also be there, they had immediately prepared to go there. King Nanda, accompanied by his cowherd men, had loaded all their necessary paraphernalia on bullock carts, and all of the Vṛndāvana residents had come to Kurukṣetra to see their beloved sons Lord Balarāma and Lord Kṛṣṇa.

The cowherds of Vraja were planning to stay at Kurukṣetra for some days, so they came equipped with adequate provisions, especially milk products and other foods for the pleasure of Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma.

Nanda was surrounded with cowherd men on carts loaded with goods. These supplies had been brought there in order to feed Krsna and live together with Krsna.

After describing the conversations between Kuntī and Vasudeva and others briefly in the beginning, there is now a detailed description of the Lord on his arrival with Nanda and others who had arrived previous to the eclipse, since that was their main goal in going there, but had difficulty meeting him because of many reasons stated previously. The description continues till the end of the chapter. Understanding that the Yadus had arrived, along with all their families (pra-āptān), headed by Kṛṣṇa, his son, who attracts everyone’s heart, Nanda came to Kurukṣetra, surrounded by Upananda and other cowherds, with their wives and others, in order to see him. Forget about others going for worldly or otherworldly benefits. They came there just with a desire to see Kṛṣṇa. This indicates their condition in separation from Kṛṣṇa. They came with carts loaded with goods or with articles dear to Kṛṣṇa, with his beloved gopīs sitting in carts.
