te rathair deva-dhiṣṇyābhair hayaiś ca tarala-plavaiḥ gajair nadadbhir abhrābhair nṛbhir vidyādhara-dyubhiḥ vyarocanta mahā-tejāḥ pathi kāṣcana-mālinaḥ divya-srag-vastra-sannāhāḥ kalatraiḥ khe-carā iva

Translation

The mighty Yādavas passed with great majesty along the road. They were attended by their soldiers, who rode on chariots rivaling the airplanes of heaven, on horses moving with a rhythmic gait, and on bellowing elephants as huge as clouds. Also with them were many infantrymen as effulgent as celestial Vidyādharas. The Yādavas were so divinely dressed — being adorned with gold necklaces and flower garlands and wearing fine armor — that as they proceeded along the road with their wives they seemed to be demigods flying through the sky.

The mighty Yādavas passed with great majesty along the road. They were attended by their soldiers, who rode on chariots rivaling the airplanes of heaven, on horses moving with a rhythmic gait, and on bellowing elephants as huge as clouds. Also with them were many infantrymen as effulgent as celestial Vidyādharas. The Yādavas were so divinely dressed—being adorned with gold necklaces and flower garlands and wearing fine armor—that as they proceeded along the road with their wives they seemed to be demigods flying through the sky. KB 10.82.7-8 All the members of the Yadu dynasty were naturally very beautiful, yet on this occasion, when they appeared duly decorated with gold necklaces and flower garlands, dressed in valuable clothing and properly armed with their respective weapons, their natural beauty and personalities were a hundred times enhanced. The members of the Yadu dynasty came to Kurukṣetra in their gorgeously decorated chariots, which resembled the airplanes of the demigods and which were pulled by big horses that moved like the waves of the ocean. Some Yadus rode on sturdy, stalwart elephants that moved like the clouds in the sky. Their wives were carried on beautiful palanquins by beautiful men whose features resembled those of the Vidyādharas. The entire assembly looked as beautiful as an assembly of the demigods of heaven.

The chariots shone like the airplanes of the devatas (deva dhisnyabhaih). They were full of great power (maha tejah).

The Vṛṣṇis (te) shone with their chariots etc. Nṛbhiḥ means “with foot soldiers.” The four parts of the army were the chariots, horses, elephants and foot soldiers. They went with their wives. They were like planets in the sky because they were astonishing. Kṛṣṇa was like the moon.

The Vṛṣṇis (te) with chariots and four parts of the army, accompanied by their families, shone (śobhata) on the road, especially (vi) because they hoped to meet Nanda. The elephants trumpeted because they were full of mada. They were like heavy clouds. Foot soldiers also accompanied them. They had garlands made of gold flowers or their crowns, earrings and other ornaments appeared like garlands. They had attractive armor, flower garlands and clothing. They were like siddhas in the sky because of the speed of their travel in celestial chariots.
