तस्माद् ब्रह्मकुलं ब्रह्मन् शास्‍त्रयोनेस्त्वमात्मन: । सभाजयसि सद्धाम तद् ब्रह्मण्याग्रणीर्भवान् ॥ २० ॥

Verse text

tasmād brahma-kulaṁ brahman śāstra-yones tvam ātmanaḥ sabhājayasi sad dhāma tad brahmaṇyāgraṇīr bhavān

tasmāt therefore ; brahma of brāhmaṇas ; kulam to the community ; brahman O Absolute Truth ; śāstra the revealed scriptures ; yoneḥ whose means of realization ; tvam You ; ātmanaḥ of Yourself ; sabhājayasi show honor ; sat perfect ; dhāma the abode ; tat consequently ; brahmaṇya of those who respect brahminical culture ; agranīḥ the leader ; bhavān You .

Translation

Therefore, O Supreme Brahman, You honor the members of the brahminical community, for they are the perfect agents by which one can realize You through the evidence of the Vedas. For that very reason You are the foremost worshiper of the brāhmaṇas.

Therefore, O Supreme Brahman, You honor the members of the brahminical community, for they are the perfect agents by which one can realize You through the evidence of the Vedas. For that very reason You are the foremost worshiper of the brāhmaṇas. KB 10.84.20 “You are the Supreme Soul, the Supreme Brahman. Persons who are situated in brahminical culture, therefore, can understand the truth about Your transcendental form. Thus You always hold the brāhmaṇas in respect, and You are considered to be the topmost of all followers of brahminical culture. You are therefore known as brahmaṇya-deva.

You worship the brahmanas who are the best source of realization (sad dhama) of yourself (atmanah) who is proven by the Veda (sastra yoneh).

“If I am like that, why do I worship you sages?” You honor the brāhmaṇas to teach the people. In the manner that they started the discussion with this concept, they finish with the same statement.

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

You worship the brāhmaṇas, for they are your (ātmanaḥ) excellent (sat) abode (dhāma), since you are the promoter of the Vedas (śāstra-yoneḥ). O direct form of the Vedas (brahman)! The brāhmaṇas are the abode of the Lord because they possess or promote the Vedas. Thus it is proper that the Lord worships them.
