Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead then addressed Lord Giriśa, who was now out of danger: “Just see, O Mahādeva, My lord, how this wicked man has been killed by his own sinful reactions. Indeed, what living being can hope for good fortune if he offends exalted saints, what to speak of offending the lord and spiritual master of the universe?”

The Supreme Personality of Godhead then addressed Lord Giriśa, who was now out of danger: "Just see, O Mahādeva, My lord, how this wicked man has been killed by his own sinful reactions. Indeed, what living being can hope for good fortune if he offends exalted saints, what to speak of offending the lord and spiritual master of the universe?"

Thus Lord Viṣṇu in the form of a brahmacārī released Lord Śiva from the impending danger and saved the whole situation. Lord Nārāyaṇa then informed Lord Śiva that this demon, Vṛkāsura, was killed as the result of his sinful activities. He was especially sinful and offensive because he wanted to experiment on his own master, Lord Śiva. Lord Nārāyaṇa then told Lord Śiva, “My dear lord, a person who commits an offense to great souls cannot continue to exist. He is vanquished by his own sinful activities, and this is certainly true of this demon, who has committed such an offensive act against you.”

According to Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī, this statement of Lord Viṣṇu’s implies a mild scolding: “My dear possessor of unlimited vision, O you of clear intelligence, benedictions should not be given to wicked demons in this way. You could have been killed! But you were only concerned about saving this poor soul, so you disregarded what would happen to you as a result.” Thus, Ācārya Viśvanātha Cakravartī points out, Lord Nārāyaṇa’s mild rebuke also highlighted Lord Śiva’s exceptional compassion.

"O Siva, you do not have foresight! You have innocent intelligence! Benedictions should be given to evil minded persons. You do not consider that by those benedictions you will die. I have saved you, but what will happen on other days?" In this way, he zealously scolded Siva. This shows the extraordinary greatness of the Lord.

The Lord went out of Vaikuṇṭha to meet Śiva. He spoke to Śiva in this way was because he was Bhagavān. He has qualities like humility more than all other men (puruṣottamaḥ). It is astonishing (aho)! O Śiva, worshipped by the universe (deva) since you are the greatest of all (mahā-deva)! He was actually not killed by his sins, but by the Lord. O Śiva you are capable of killing him (īśa)! But you did not kill him since he had worshipped you. Kilbiṣaḥ means offense.
