इत्येतत्कथितं गुर्वि ज्ञानं तद्ब्रह्म-दर्शनम् । येनानुबुद्ध्यते तत्त्वं प्रकृते: पुरुषस्य च ॥ ३१ ॥

ity etat kathitaṁ gurvi jṣānaṁ tad brahma-darśanam yenānubuddhyate tattvaṁ prakṛteḥ puruṣasya ca

Synonyms

iti — thus ; etat — this ; kathitam — described ; gurvi — O respectful mother ; jṣānam — knowledge ; tat — that ; brahma — the Absolute Truth ; darśanam — revealing ; yena — by which ; anubuddhyate — is understood ; tattvam — the truth ; prakṛteḥ — of matter ; puruṣasya — of spirit ; ca — and .

Translation

My dear respectful mother, I have already described the path of understanding the Absolute Truth, by which one can come to understand the real truth of matter and spirit and their relationship.

O mother! In this way I have explained jṣāna, realization of Brahman, by which one understands the truth concerning prakṛti and puruṣa. Now Kapila summarizes the topic to make it easier to understand. Gurvi means “O mother!”
