Translation
O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, the demigods were related to Viśvarūpa from his father’s side, and therefore he visibly offered clarified butter in the fire while chanting mantras such as indrāya idaṁ svāhā [“this is meant for King Indra”] and idam agnaye [“this is for the demigod of fire”]. He loudly chanted these mantras and offered each of the demigods his proper share.
Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
O King! Having the devatās as his father, he visibly offered the devatās their share in sacrifice with respect.
Now partiality to the demons is described in two verses. Visibly, with humility he offered a portion to the devatās saying “This is for Indra. This is for Agni.” The reason is that his fathers were devatās. [Note: Kaśyapa and Aditi gave birth to Tvaṣṭā. His son through Racanā, a daughter of the demons, was Viśvarūpa.]
