Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

In the month of Kārtika, after observing that vow for one year, after observing a fast for three nights and after bathing in the Yamunā, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa worshiped the Lord in Madhuvana. Though he observed Ekadaśī vow throughout life, he desires to perform Ekadaśī at Mathurā for a year. Three nights fasting means fasting completely on Ekadaśī and not eating on the Daśamī or Dvādaśī except the permitted amount.
