सङ्गीतवद्रोदनवदुन्नमय्य शिरोधराम् ।
व्यमुञ्चन् विविधा वाचो ग्रामसिंहास्ततस्तत: ॥ १० ॥

saṅgītavad rodanavad
unnamayya śirodharām
vyamuñcan vividhā vāco
grāma-siṁhās tatas tataḥ

Synonyms

saṅgīta-vat — like singing ; rodana-vat — like wailing ; unnamayya — raising ; śirodharām — the neck ; vyamuñcan — uttered ; vividhāḥ — various ; vācaḥ — cries ; grāma-siṁhāḥ — the dogs ; tataḥ tataḥ — here and there.

Translation

Raising their necks, dogs cried here and there, now in the manner of singing and now of wailing.

Dogs here and there uttered cries sounding like singing and weeping while raising their heads up. Grāma-siṁhāḥ means dogs.
