śrī-nārada uvāca dvitīyasyāpi durgasya pūrva-dvāre videha-rāṭ indra-tīrthaṁ mahā-puṇyaṁ kāma-daṁ siddhi-dāyakam śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; dvitīyasya—of the second; api—also; durgasya—fort; pūrva-dvāre—the eastern door; videha-rāṭ—O king of Videha; indra-tīrtham—Indra-tīrtha; mahā-puṇyam—very sacred; kāma-dam—fuldilling desires; siddhi-dāyakam—granting perfection. Śrī Nārada said: O king of Videha, at the eastern gate of the second fortress is sacred Indra-tīrtha, which grants perfection and fulfills all desires.

tatra snātvā naro rājann
indralokaṁ prayāti hi
ihaiva candra-sādṛśyaṁ
vaibhavaṁ prāpyate naraḥ

Synonyms

Translation

O king, a person who bathes there goes to Indraloka. There he becomes glorious like the moon.

tathā vai dakśiṇe dvāre
sūrya-kuṇḍo 'bhidhīyate
yadā satrājitenāpi
pūjito 'bhūt syamantakaḥ

Synonyms

tathā so ; vai indeed ; dakśiṇe at the southern ; dvāre gate ; sūrya-kuṇḍaḥ Sūrya-kuṇḍa ; abhidhīyate is called ; yadā when ; satrājitena by satrājit ; api also ; pūjitaḥ worshiped ; abhūt was ; syamantakaḥ the Syamantaka.

Translation

At the southern gate is Sūrya-kuṇḍa, where Satrājit worshiped the Syamantaka jewel.

tatra snātvā padmarāgaṁ
yo dadāti nṛpeśvara
sūrya-prabha-vimānena
sūryalokaṁ prayāti hi

Synonyms

tatra there ; snātvā bathing ; padmarāgam ruby ; yaḥ who ; dadāti gives ; nṛpeśvara O king of kings ; sūrya-prabha splendid as the sun ; vimānena with an airplane ; sūryalokam to Sūryaloka ; prayāti goes ; hi indeed.

Translation

A person who bathes there and gives a ruby in charity flies to the sun planet in an airplane effulgent like the sun.

brahma-tīrthaṁ viśiśyate
tatra snātvā naro rājan
svarṇa-pātre ca pāyāsam

Translation

yo dadāti mahā-buddhis tasya puṇya-phalaṁ śṛṇu brahma-hā pitṛ-hā go-ghno mātṛ-hācārya-hāghavān indraloke padaṁ dhṛtvā bibhrad brahmamayaṁ vapuḥ candrābhena vimānena yāti brahma-padaṁ sa ca tathā—so; vai—indeed; paścime—in the western; dvāre—gate; brahma-tīrtham—Brahma-tīrtha; viśiśyate—is distinguished; tatra—there; snātvā—bathing; naraḥ—a person; rājan—O king; svarṇa—golden; pātre—in a cup; ca—and; pāyāsam—pāyasa; yaḥ—one who; dadāti—gives; mahā-buddhiḥ—very intelligent; tasya—of him; puṇya-phalam—the pious result; śṛṇu—please hear; brahma-hā—the sin of killing a ;brāhmaṇ pitṛ-hā—the sin of killing one;s father; go-ghnaḥ—the sin of killing a cow; mātṛ-hā—the sin of killing one's mother; ācārya-hā—the sin of killing one's guru; aghavān—sinful; indraloke—in Indraloka; padam—the state; dhṛtvā—holding; bibhrat—hoilding; brahmamayam—like Lord Brahmā; vapuḥ—form; candrābhena—splendid as the moon; vimānena—with an airplane; yāti—goes; brahma-padam—to Brahmaloka; sa—he; ca—and. At the western gate is Brahma-tīrtha. Please here the pious result attained by one who bathes there and gives charity of pāyasa in a golden cup. Such a person is very wise. Even if he has killed his father, his mother, his guru, a brāhmaṇa, or a cow, or even if he has committed many very terrible sins, he attains a form like that of Lord Brahmā and, riding in an airplane effulgent as the moon, goes to Brahmaloka.

kśetraṁ syān nailalohitam
yatra sākśān mahā-devo
rājate nīlalohitaḥ

Synonyms

tathā so ; vai indeed ; uttare at the northern ; dvāre gate ; kśetram the place ; syān is ; nailalohitam Nailalohita ; yatra where ; sākśāt directly ; mahā-devaḥ Lord Śiva ; rājate is splendidly manifested ; nīlalohitaḥ as Nīlalohita.

Translation

At the northern gate is Nailalohita-tīrtha, where Lord Śiva is splendidly manifested in his form of Nīlalohita.

devatā munayaḥ sarve
tathā sāptarśayaḥ pare
vasanti yatra vaideha
tathā sarve marud-gaṇāḥ

Synonyms

devatā the demigods ; munayaḥ the sages ; sarve all ; tathā so ; sāptarśayaḥ the seven sages ; pare others ; vasanti reside ; yatra where ; vaideha O king of Videha ; tathā so ; sarve all ; marud-gaṇāḥ the Maruts.

Translation

All the demigods and sages, the seven ṛśis, all the Maruts, and many others all reside in that place.

nīlalohita-liṇgaṁ tu
yatra sampūjya yatnataḥ
aiśvaryam atulaṁ lebhe
rāvaṇo loka-rāvaṇaḥ

Synonyms

nīlalohita-liṇgam the Deity of Lord Śiva ; tu indeed ; yatra where ; sampūjya worshiping ; yatnataḥ carefully ; aiśvaryam opulence ; atulam unequalled ; lebhe attains ; rāvaṇaḥ Rāvaṇa ; loka-rāvaṇaḥ who made the entire world cry out.

Translation

At this place the demon Rāvaṇa, who made the entire world scream with grief, worshiped the liṇga of Lord Śiva and attained incomparable power and opulence.

kailāsasyāpi yātrāyāṁ
yat phalaṁ labhate nṛpa
tasmāc chata-guṇaṁ puṇyaṁ
nīlalohita-darśanāt

Synonyms

kailāsasya of Mount Kailāsa ; api also ; yātrāyām on pilgrimage ; yat what ; phalam result ; labhate attains ; nṛpa O king ; tasmāt than that ; śata a hundred times ; guṇam multiplied ; puṇyam piety ; nīlalohita-darśanāt by seeing Nīlalohita.

Translation

O king, by seeing the liṇga of Lord Śiva there one attains a pious result a hundred times greater than the result attained by going on pilgrimage to Mount Kailāsa.

nīlalohita-kuṇḍe vai
snāto yas tri-dinaṁ naraḥ
sa yāti śiva-lokākhyaṁ
pāpāyuta-yuto 'pi hi

Synonyms

nīlalohita-kuṇḍe in Nīlalohita-kuṇḍe ; vai indeed ; snātaḥ bathing ; yaḥ who ; tri-dinam three days ; naraḥ a person ; sa he ; yāti goes ; śiva-lokākhyam to Śivaloka ; pāpāyuta-yutaḥ having millions of sins ; api even ; hi indeed.

Translation

A person who visits for three days and bathes in Nīlalohita-kuṇḍa goes to Śivaloka, even though he may have committed many millions of sins.

sapta-sāmudrakaṁ nāma
tīrthaṁ yatra virājate
tatra snātvā naraḥ pāpi
pāpa-saṇghaiḥ pramucyate

Synonyms

sapta-sāmudrakam Sapta-sāmudraka ; nāma named ; tīrtham holy place ; yatra where ; virājate is splendidly manifested ; tatra there ; snātvā bathing ; naraḥ a person ; pāpi sinful ; pāpa-saṇghaiḥ from many sins ; pramucyate is freed.

Translation

There also is Sapta-sāmudraka-tīrtha. A sinner who bathes there is freed from a great host of sins.

parjanyo dhanadaḥ somaḥ kśitir agnir apāṁ patiḥ tat-pārśveśu sadā hy ete tiśṭhanti manujeśvara saptānām—of the seven; ca—and; samudrāṇām—seas; snāna-puṇyam—the pious result of bathing; labhet—attains; tvaram—at once; viśṇuḥ—Lord Viśṇu; viriñcaḥ—Brahmā; giriśa—Śiva; indraḥ—Indra; vāyuḥ—Vāyu; yamaḥ—Yama; raviḥ—Sūrya; parjanyaḥ—Indra; dhanadaḥ—Kuvera; somaḥ—Candra; kśitiḥ—Kśiti; agniḥ—Agni; apāṁ patiḥ—Varuṇa; tat-pārśveśu—in its sides; sadā—always; hy—indeed; ete—they; tiśṭhanti—stay; manujeśvara—O king. He attains the pious result of bathing in the seven oceans. O king, Lord Viśṇu, Brahmā, Śiva, Indra, Vāyu, Yama, Sūrya, Indra, Kuvera, Candra, Kśiti, Agni, and Varuṇa always stay on the shores of Sapta-sāmudraka-tīrtha.

Translation

O king, all the seventy million holy places of the universe are present at Sapta-sāmudraka-tīrtha.

tatra snātvā naraḥ paścāt
kṛtvā sarva-parikramam
prāpnoti dvārakāyāś ca
yātrāyāḥ sakalaṁ phalam

Synonyms

Translation

A person who bathes there and circumambulates that holy place attains all the pious results of going on a pilgrimage to Dvārakā.

sapta-sāmudrakam ṛte
na yātrā phala-dā smṛtā
sapta-sāmudrakaṁ tīrthaṁ
viśṇu-rūpaṁ viduḥ surāḥ

Synonyms

Translation

Without visiting Sapta-sāmudraka-tīrtha, a pilgrimage to Dvārakā will not bring any results. The demigods know that Sapta-sāmudraka-tīrtha is an incarnation of Lord Viśṇu.
